The sixth annual SynergyFest in Las Vegas, New Mexico, will be held at Memorial Middle School, 947 Old National Road. SynergyFest brings together people and organizations with a goal of increasing the use of solar and sustainable energy. The name derives from “synergy,” which means energies working together to create a total outcome greater than the sum of its parts. This year's event will feature the school’s solar powered greenhouse, the Sunshine Kids Village, local entertainment, workshops and a solar oven competition. SynergyFest is taking a somewhat different track this year from past events. Still held close to Earth Day, we'll be seeing a greater concentration on power generation and conservation because of the current economic strains hitting our community. As always, it will be fun for the whole family, and it's FREE this year! Some events and displays will be making a return, along with lots of new stuff. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue to 5:00 p.m. For more information contact Cheryl Zebrowski at 425-6008, or email her at czebrowski@desertgate.com.
